Developer Relations Boot Camp
The Evans Data Corporation's Developer Relations Boot Camp provides a solid foundation on which you can build or enhance your developer program. Concentrated sessions in this one-day instructional program provide the insight and actionable information you can use to build your brand and establish strong relationships with your developer community.
The combination of an experienced boot camp faculty and Evans Data developer research will guide:
- careful consideration regarding the reasons why developers seek out and participate in developer programs
- the most effective means of reaching out to them
- how you can leverage social media to greatest effect.
At the end of the day you will leave with a certificate of completion as well as the knowledge and confidence to create, enhance and run a world class developer program.

9:00am - 9:15am | Introduction and "Getting from the Why to the How" This session provides an introduction of the day's workshop, and walks attendees through "Getting from the Why to the How". Throughout the workshop, we'll use Evans Data's primary and secondary research as well as the knowledge and insights of years of program experience to provide help you build or enhance a world class developer relations program. 9:15am - 9:50am | Program Strategy, Getting Buy-In and Framework for Success To start or enhance your developer relations program, we'll first take a look at how to create an overall strategy. We'll cover defining objectives, persona discovery, working with stakeholders to get their "buy in", enumerating desired outcomes and creating the measurements (KPIs) of success. Then we'll outline an execution framework so that you can run a successful, thriving developer community. The framework will include your list of program tactics, ROI metrics to support the investment, a step by step action plan and measuring results along the way to identify course corrections and new opportunities. |

Covering an array of topics from tools and APIs, providing support, effective communication, program extensions, and funding; this session provides the essential elements to any successful program. |

11:15am - 11:50am | Building a Robust Developer Community through Outreach This session explores how to reach developers and position your technology to the best advantage. We cover events like hackathons and code camps, contests, search engine advertising, creating a social media presence, public relations, and other forms of outreach. |

12:50pm - 1:50pm | Program Marketing: Social, Blog, PR, etc. This interactive session will cover a vast array of topics including developer program marketing, social media outreach, blogging strategies, press relations and more. The panel consists of experts in high tech media, events, advertising, PR and social blogging. The panel members will showcase the intricate details that are involved in strategic marketing today. Join our panelists as they share their expertise on growing a successful developer program. The panel will also take your questions. |

1:50pm - 2:25pm | Creating Enduring Partnerships that Inspire Loyalty Once you've discovered the best practices for your developer program, recruited developers, expanded through outreach, you'll need to explore how to maintain your developer community. This session explores understanding community characteristics, sustaining core strengths while identifying areas of improvements, planning according to needs, and providing resources that inspire loyalty. |

3:25pm - 4:10pm | Best Practices from Boot Camp Attendees Boot camp attendees will send to David I their favorite best practices and lessons learned from their own program or other developer programs. Those (4 or 5) selected each have 5 minutes to present +5 minutes of discussion. |

4:10pm - 4:40pm | Final Comments, Q&A, Information Links and Next Steps In this informal end to the boot camp, we will take your final questions, take a look at additional information that is available about developer relations programs and offerings, and discuss next steps for your developer relations program including how Evans Data can help you grow your business and program. |
