Quantum Confidence Varies Widely by Age
Nearly 8 in 10 developers believe quantum computing will be mainstream by 2030, but the level of conviction differs dramatically across age groups.
According to our Developer Marketing Survey Report 2025, 27% of developers strongly agree with that prediction, while 50% somewhat agree. But when we look at the data by age, a sharp generational divide emerges.
Developers under 30 are the most optimistic: 32% strongly agree, and more than half (53%) somewhat agree. Those aged 31-40 are close behind, with 26% strongly agreeing and 61% somewhat agreeing.
Yet among developers over 50, only 11% strongly agree that quantum will be mainstream by 2030. In fact, half of that group either somewhat or strongly disagree with the statement—suggesting deeper skepticism or perhaps more caution from those with the longest industry experience.
This raises an important question for companies marketing emerging technologies like quantum: How do you tailor messaging for audiences who may share the same goals but differ significantly in expectations and perceived feasibility?
Are you adapting your strategies to reflect these generational perspectives?
