Using Evans Data Corp's Multi-client Studies for your PR
All of the EDC multi-client subscription studies are intended to provide valuable strategic information to be used internally within a client company for decisions related to product marketing, management, positioning, etc. They are not designed as PR vehicles, and no client may publish outside of their own company any of the data contained in any report unless they have asked for and received explicit written permission from Evans Data Corp.
The policy of Evans Data Corp is generally to grant permission for a client to use some specific bit of data; however, we never give permission for one client to mention the company or product names of any other clients. This policy is fundamental to our business model for the syndicated surveys and is a restriction that is never overridden.
The PR use policy on our data is considered extremely important to Evans Data Corp for two reasons:
- Our multi-client studies provide a vehicle in which many different companies can contribute questions, direct us towards areas of strategic interest and get back the results. Many of the clients who subscribe are competitors, and so it is our solemn obligation to protect each and every client from having potentially sensitive data revealed to the public. We are very serious about protecting the trust of all of our clients
- The multi-client studies are a critical part of the Evans Data Corp business model. If one client were to publish data that involved another client our model would quickly break down and we would undoubtedly lose clientele. Thus any publication of data outside the policy as stated above would provide severe damage to Evans Data Corp.
That said, most of the data in the series are not competitive and can be freely used. We are very happy to help your PR group work on stories involving your own company's rankings (without mentioning others), or on general trends in the software development field. If there's something in one of our reports that you'd like to publish in your ad or press release we'll be happy to help, providing it meets the guidelines above.
