SANTA CRUZ, CA – July 15, 2009 – Over 60% of developers in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region have made progress towards delivering SOA applications according to Evans Data’s EMEA Development Survey report released last week to subscribers. Although only 7.7% have fully deployed SOA applications, 32% have deployed at least some SOA components.
The biannual survey of over 400 EMEA software developers measures major technology shifts and adoption patterns for a wide range of topics including scripting language use, 3GL language use such as C++, C#, and Java, platform targeting and migration, and other technology adoption including cloud, web services, SOA, parallel programming, and agile development trends.
Other highlights from the survey include:
- Currently 71% of EMEA developers say they use managed code and 30% say all their code is written in managed languages such as C# and Java.
- Microsoft SQL Server is the most commonly used SQL database, cited by over 46% of developers.
- VMware is perceived of as the leading provider of virtualization tools by EMEA developers, cited by 49% of developers.
