SANTA CRUZ, CA. January 11, 2017 - Artificial Intelligence in all its forms is being rapidly adopted and incorporated in many new applications. Of those developers working with some form of AI, 34% are involved with Deep Learning techniques, and the industry most likely to be targeted is the Financial/Insurance industry with 16.4% targeting it, according to Evans Data's recently released Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Survey. The survey, conducted with 440 professional developers involved with Artificial Intelligence and/or Big Data also showed that targeting of Internet of Things (14.9%) and non-computer manufacturing (12.5%) are also among the top industries for Deep Learning implementations.
Further survey results focused on Deep Learning showed that for almost a third of developers working with Deep Learning, the most common type of data being used is numerical inputs. The most popular types of methods being used are Markov Chain Monte Carlo and Contrastive Divergences.
"While it's easy to imagine implementations for Deep Learning across many industries, Fin-tech is particularly ripe for this," said Janel Garvin, CEO of Evans Data Corp. "AI can help a financial advisor or stock broker make better recommendations that are tailored specifically to a client's circumstances and needs, but getting AI into the financial services sector can mean a revolutionary break through for banking institutions of all types."
The Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Survey is a survey of developers active in those types of development that is conducted twice a year with a margin of error having at most 5%. This survey had a margin of error of 4.6%. Topics in this survey include: Understanding AI and Big Data Developers, Perceptions of the Landscape, Decision Making for AI and Big Data, Barriers and Challenges, AI Approaches, Conversational Systems and Personal Assistants, Real time event Processing, Languages Used, Tools and more.
