Santa Cruz, CALIF. (February 5, 2024) - The prevalence of deep fakes in social media is hard to ignore. According to the recently released Developer Marketing Survey Report by Evans Data Corp., eighty-nine percent of developers recognize the prevalence of deep fakes on social networks.
Initially used for creative audience immersion with video game graphics and virtual try-ons, recent developments have exposed deep fakes and the potential for misuse in politics and public discourse. However, despite the growing conversations around legislation for these new technologies, developers continue to hold a predominantly positive view of AI-generated content.
This latest Developer Marketing Survey asked active developers if they were able to differentiate between AI-generated and human-generated content. Most developers reported that they could accurately differentiate between the two and tend to favor the personal touch of human-generated content that feels irreplicable by AI. Many who reported indifference when it came to AI or human-generated content reasoned that accuracy of information was more important than who created the content.

While they appreciate the authenticity and uniqueness of human-generated content, they also see AI as a powerful ally in content creation. This nuanced perspective reflects developers' pragmatic approach to leveraging technology to enhance their creative endeavors and streamline their workflows.
