SANTA CRUZ, CA, November 7, 2005 - Evans Data Corporation announced today that IBM's DB2 database toolset has won the 2005 Developers' Choice Award for Best Database Tools. Based on the results from a survey of more than 400 database developers IBM's DB2 database tools were rated the best overall database tools across eleven categories in the survey.
The survey ranked eight top open source and proprietary databases used by the developers across these categories: Database modeling tools, Audit tools, Replication tools, Encryption tools, Debuggers, Tools for automated data propagation, Automatic runtime tracing, Tools for creating transaction rollbacks, Profilers/Performance optimizers, Database change migration tools and Editors/IDEs.
"DB2 proved the excellence of its tools in several categories. The top rankings for IBM's DB2 audit tools puts them in a prime position to support compliance mandates that require downstream audibility of data for financial statements," said John Andrews, President of Evans Data. "Moreover, the combination of best encryption tools and best audit tools presents a compelling argument for companies with a great need for security as well as compliance to standards such as Sarbanes-Oxley Act."
"IBM is consistently working with the development community to make sure we are putting the resources they need into our databases and tools," said Bernie Spang, director IBM database marketing. "This award shows that developers have recognized and appreciate the investment we have made in our tools that help them as they build business applications with IBM databases."
